This policy explains what information My Blog collects when you use this website, why, and what you can do about it. The website is run by Community News Worldwide CIC (“we”, “us”), which is the data controller. Questions about privacy: admin@straycut.com.

What we collect

• Newsletter. Your email address, the date you signed up and the page you signed up on. Used only to send you the newsletter.
• Story tip-offs and contact messages. Whatever you choose to tell us, plus your name and contact details, so our team can read it and reply.
• Comments. If comments are open and you leave one, your name, email, website and comment, and your IP address for spam protection.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for security, for a limited time.

Our legal basis

We rely on your consent for the newsletter and for keeping tip-offs and messages, and on our legitimate interests for running and securing the site. Personalised advertising relies on your consent, which you give or refuse through the consent message (see below).

Advertising and cookies

We use Google AdSense to show advertising on this site. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.

Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. This site itself only sets the cookies WordPress needs (for example if you leave a comment or log in). Videos from YouTube load from youtube-nocookie.com, and only after you press play.

Sources and anonymity

If you ask to stay anonymous when sharing a story, we never publish your name or anything that identifies you without your written agreement, and we limit who on the team can see your details.

How long we keep things

Newsletter details until you leave the list (every email has a one-click link, which deletes them). Tip-offs and messages for as long as they’re useful to the story, and no longer than three years unless we’re working with you. Server logs according to our host’s schedule.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent at any time. Email admin@straycut.com. If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
